A very warm welcome to the 2018-19 school year to all new and legacy Washington families!
The Washington Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a non-profit organization whose
membership includes parents, legal guardians, staff and local businesses.
We are guided by these three main principles :
● To advocate for Washington students, staff and families within the Omaha Public School
System and the Omaha community
● To provide volunteer and financial support for school programs and events
● To strengthen the school community by creating social opportunities for our families,
students, and teachers
Everyone is welcome to become a member of the Washington PTO and membership is free to
all Washington families. If you are interested, you can fill out a membership form at the
Kindergarten Picnic, Back to School Night or any of our PTO meetings.
As a PTO member, you have a vote in the organization. We meet on the second Tuesday of
most months in the library of Washington Elementary from 6-7pm. FREE babysitting is
provided in the gym. Our events calendar with exact dates of meetings is provided with this
letter and is posted on the Washington Elementary PTO website:
PTO members will receive a monthly email that includes a reminder for the upcoming meeting
date, previous meeting minutes, upcoming meeting agenda and relevant event information. We
also maintain a Facebook page: Families of Washington Elementary-Omaha . Visit our
Facebook page and ‘like’ it to receive regular updates.
It’s our belief that the team effort of a Parent Teacher Organization offers the best possible
learning environment for our children. Please feel free to reach out to either of us if you would
