Welcome

to

First Grade!

Hi and welcome to a new and exciting school year in Mrs. Lichti's class!  This is my 20th year of teaching with Omaha Public Schools and my seventh year here at Washington.  I am eager to embark on a learning adventure with a new group of first grade students.  I look forward to working with both my students and their parents to make this the best year ever!

I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1998.  I earned my Master's Degree from UNO in 2002.  I taught second grade for thirteen years and moved to first grade six years ago.   Making a change to first grade has been a welcome experience that I truly enjoy!

Besides teaching, my life consists of spending time with my family.  I have been married to my husband, Brandon, for 16 years and have three children.  A daughter, Maddie, who is in ninth grade, a sixth grade son, Carter,  and a son, Evan, who is in second grade.  We enjoy baseball, football and traveling in our spare time.  They definitely keep me busy and make life interesting and entertaining.

My goal as a teacher is to help my students learn everything they need to know in first grade as well as prepare them for second grade.  In addition to this, I hope they become responsible, independent and problem solving students.  Parent support and communication is so important in a child's education.  If ever there are any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact me by phone or email.
